Trusting Jesus to Heal Me

Yesterday, I sat in a hospital waiting room, my heart heavy and my body in pain. The doctor’s words rang in my ears: “You’ve damaged your spine.”

Four weeks away from competing at the Regional Powerlifting Championships, stronger than I’d been in years, I was ready to qualify for the British. My dream the promise I made to myself and to Arnold Schwarzenegger felt shattered.

I left the hospital sedated from medication, my thoughts clouded. I lay down and prayed quietly, “Lord Jesus, I don’t understand this, but I trust You.”

In my weakness, He gave me a reminder. I turned on Netflix and found myself watching Arnold’s story right at the part where he faced a surgery that could have ended his career. Instead of giving up, he shifted direction, climbed a new mountain, and found purpose.

Then, on TikTok, I saw Steve Harvey sharing his testimony of going from nothing to success through faith, hard work, and never quitting. It was like God was speaking to me: “Mak, your journey isn’t over. Trust Me.”

I remembered Proverbs 3:5–6:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

I believe in a Jesus who healed the blind, raised the dead, and calmed the storm. My spine may be injured, but my faith is not. I am trusting Him to restore me, guide me, and use my journey for His glory.

And one day soon, I will testify: “The Lord healed me, and I finished my race.”
